‘Blood Curse’

EXCLUSIVE: Singapore’s sales company Mokster Films has boarded Chiou Hau-Jou’s Blood Curse and will introduce international buyers to the horror feature at AFM.

Drawing inspiration from true events, the Taiwanese film reimagines traditional exorcism cinema with intense physicality and psychological depth, while exploring the enduring bonds between family and spirits.

The story follows a young exorcist who suspects his college classmate is possessed before discovering that an evil spirt can move from one sibling of the latter to another and that the same spirit is the one who has harmed his father.

The cast is headed by Tsao Yu-Ning of Nelicia Low’s Karlovy Vary award-winner Pierce and Chloe Xiang from Busan 2024 title The Uniform along with Tien Hsin and Kaiser Chuang. It is backed by Zengzhen’s Star Shine Film who is also the producer along with Lin Chin-Li. The Taiwan-based company previously produced 2024 high-school music film Love Beside Me.

“While the film features familiar supernatural elements such as rituals, temples, and spirit mediums, we take a fresh approach by fusing intense action choreography into traditional exorcism scenes turning ghost encounters into visceral, adrenaline-driven sequences,” said director Chiou.

It joins Mokster’s AFM slate, which also includes Kongkiat Komesiri’s Thai action epic 4 Tigers. AFM is set to run from November 11-16.
