Principal photography to start next month in LA.

Elle Fanning, Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks, Abbey Lee, Bella Heathcote and Jena Malone have signed to co-star in Nicolas Winding Refn’s next film The Neon Demon.

Few details about the film, originally announced at the AFM, have been released as yet except that it is horror tale with a young female cast, written by Refn and Mary Laws.

Refn in the AFM announcement said of the project: “One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty.

“After making Drive and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of The Neon Demon.”

Few details were revealed about the individual roles in Neon Demon, except that Lee “will play Sarah, the ringleader of a maniacal group of models”.

Principal photography will begin in Los Angeles on March 30.

Gaumont and Wild Bunch, which collaborated on Refn’s last film Only God Forgives, are co-selling the title.

Refn and his long-time collaborator Lene Borglum (ValhallaRising, Only God Forgives) will produce the feature under their joint company, Space Rocket Nation.
