Stephen Graham has signed on to reunite with Tom Hanks in Greyhound 2, with production on the Apple Original Films sequel now underway in Australia.
Hanks and Graham reprise their roles from the original Greyhound, a World War II naval adventure that was a streaming success when it had its global premiere on Apple TV in 2020 (it went on to get an Oscar nomination for best sound and Bafta nominations for sound and special visual effects).
Release plans for the sequel have not yet been revealed.
Also returning for the sequel, a Playtone production for Apple Studios, are director Aaron Schneider and producer Gary Goetzman.
Production in Sydney is being supported by Screen NSW’s Made in NSW Fund. Screen NSW will also support post production, digital and visual effects work on the film.
The sequel will follow Hanks’ and Graham’s characters and the rest of the crew of the destroyer code named Greyhound from the beaches of Normandy to the Pacific ocean, as they help turn the tide of the war.
Greyhound 2 is the latest Apple project from Hanks and Goetzman’s Playtone production company, which also produced limited drama series Masters Of The Air with Apple Studios and Amblin Television.
Graham is also set to star for Apple TV in an upcoming series based on the novels of Lars Kepler.
