In its first ever collaboration with the Golden Horse Awards, Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) has launched a Taiwan Emerging Actors Showcase, creating greater visibility and opportunities to connect local acting talent with the international industry.
The six emerging Taiwanese actors included Bao Xiao-ying from Girl and Ho Man-xi from Sunshine Women’s Choir, both running for best new performer at the upcoming Golden Horse Awards; and Ma Shih-yuan, last year’s winner in the same category for Left-Handed Girl.
Joining them were three best new performer nominees from last year: Jimmy Liu for Blind Love, Lin Yi-ting for A Dance With Rainbows and Rosen for Marching Boy.
Chang Chen, the new chairperson of the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee, attended TCCF for the first time and took to the stage for a conversation with the six actors. He is an acclaimed actor and most recently won the best actor prize at last year’s Golden Horse Awards for Lucky Lu, which premiered at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight.
Sue Wang, chairperson of TCCF organiser Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), was also on hand.
November is a busy month for Taiwan’s creative industries. Apart from the ongoing TCCF (November 6-9), the Golden Horse Film Festival kicked off yesterday (November 6) with opening film The Age Of Goodbyes by Malaysian director Edmund Yeo and starring Vivian Sung from Taiwan and Stanley Yau from Hong Kong.
