EXCLUSIVE: Thailand’s M Studio is launching black magic horror The Confession Of Shaman at the EFM, based on a story from hit podcast The Ghost Radio. A first look at the upcoming feature can be seen above.
Produced by M Studio CEO Surachedh Assawaruenganun, who is behind the blockbuster Death Whisperer trilogy, the story follows a young man consumed by rage who is determined to inherit black magic from a master shaman so he can avenge his mother’s death. However, these forbidden dark arts come with consequences and he will become trapped as the next victim of the shaman’s fatal curse unless he can pass it on to an unsuspecting soul.
The cast is led by Teeradetch Metawarayut of TV drama Game Of Succession, Denise Jelilcha Kapaun from Death Whisperer and Death Whisperer 2, and veteran Shahkrit Yamnam.
Now in production, it marks the feature directorial debut of Nattanont Cholumpi who has worked as a drama producer for leading Thai broadcaster Channel 3, including Game Of Succession. His Bangkok-based Cholumpi Production serves as production company.
The story originated on Thai podcast The Ghost Radio, recording 6.5 million views on YouTube. The Ghost Radio is a popular radio station – with 7.7 million YouTube subscribers – where listeners can dial in to share their spooky tales.
Tying in with the themes of the film, it is set to open in Thailand on August 12 – a national holiday that marks the Thai Queen Mother’s birthday and is also Mother’s Day.
