EXCLUSIVE: Bangkok-based M Studio has sold upcoming Thai horror Death Whisperer 3 to a raft of territories worldwide, securing the widest distribution for the blockbuster franchise to date.
The film is set to go on general release in Thailand on October 1 after opening on Imax on September 30. Also known by its Thai title Tee Yod 3, it will receive a gala opening night screening at the newly revived Bangkok International Film Festival on September 29.
A day-and-date release is scheduled in Laos through Major Cineplex Laos and in Indonesia with PT Prima Cinema Multimedia on October 1. They will be followed by Myanmar (Mingalar, Oct 3), Vietnam (Mockingbird, Oct 10), Malaysia & Brunei (GSC Movies, Oct 23), Singapore (Clover Films, Oct 30) and Taiwan (GaragePlay, Oct 31).
Further sales has been closed for Australia & New Zealand (Little Monster) and CIS (Carte Color). M Studio confirmed that deals have been signed for North America, Latin America, India, Pakistan and Mongolia but did not reveal further details.
The first film proved a major hit in 2023 with takings of $15.2m (THB510) while the sequel earned $24.7m (THB825m) in 2024, making it the biggest Thai film of all time.
The film stars Nadech Kugimiya, whose character returns to rescue his youngest sister from a mysterious cult in a cursed village. It is directed by Narit Yuvaboon, producer of the first two films.
