EXCLUSIVE: Bangkok-based Shinesaeng Ad.Venture is launching production arm Common Ground and has four genre titles in the works. They include Prasert, directed by Thai hitmaker Kongkiat Komesiri, and Bua from Pensiri Klangsurin.
Prasert is a $2m action drama about a man whose family becomes the target of a gang after he witnesses a murder. The cast includes Noom Kanchai, Weir Sukollawat and Two Popetorn, and it is scheduled for release in November.
Bua is a coming-of-age drama set in the 1970s, a transformative period in Thai history. Produced by Kongkiat and starring newcomer Jory Orapriya and Van Chaninthorn, it tracks the journey of a 17-year-old country girl who travels alone to Bangkok in search of her missing mother.
The projects reunite Thai production, sales and marketing banner Shinesaeng Ad.Venture with Kongkiat Production after Kongkiat’s horror hit Our House (aka Khang Ban).
Also on Shinesaeng Ad.Venture’s sales slate is supernatural thriller No Caller ID, about a medium who uses her spiritual powers to seek revenge on a scam call centre. Starring Pleng Chonmthida and Sanya Kunakorn, it marks the first feature of veteran commercials director Napas Taliangkaphun and of advertising agency Strippers Films.
The fourth title is All Forgotten Now, a $1.5m action thriller inspired by a real-life incident involving a hilltribe group that took hostages at a hospital. It stars Bella (Love Destiny), Peter Nopachai and Nat Kitcharit, and marks the first feature of director Kittichai Wanprasert (Netfliix series Hurts Like Hell) and TV production company Wan Dee Wan Dee Studio.
