AGC studios will finance and produce the comedy Action, marking its latest urban project after recently announcing Gabrielle Union rom-com The Perfect Find, Effie T. Brown comedy We Real Cool, and a drama based on the life of Wall Street trader Lauren Simmons.
Brennan Shroff (TV shows Angie Tribeca, The Detour, and Younger) will direct Action from a screenplay by Mike Grimm about two best friends – a college-bound film fanatic and a high school sports star sidelined by injury – who experience a night of life-changing adventure.
The Hate U Give and Barbershop producer Robert Teitel, who collaborated with AGC Studios chairman and CEO Stuart Ford and his team at IM Global on Southside With You, will produce alongside 51 Minds’ Christian Sarabia and Mitchell Smith. AGC’s Ford, Greg Shapiro, and Glendon Palmer will join 51 Minds’ Lawrence Mott as executive producers.
