Tomasz Habowski’s comedy-drama project Radioamateur won the Wrocław Feature Film Studio award at Polish Days, the industry programme of the 25th New Horizons International Film Festival (NHIFF), that took place in Wroclaw from July 20-22.
The prize comprised production and postproduction services worth €23,500.
Habowski’s film is scheduled to shoot later this year.
Polish Days, a joint initiative of New Horizons and the Polish Film Institute hosted some 250 local and international guests to watch the latest Polish films in all stages of production and participate in project pitching events.
Natasza Parzymies’ coming-of-age drama The Worst Days Of My Life won both the PFX Postproduction Award, covering image post-production services worth €10,000, and a co-production contribution to sound post-production prize valued at €17,600 from No Problemo Music.
No Problemo Music also honoured Exotic, a debut drama feature by Sonja Orlewicz-Zakrzewska, with an Audio Network music license.
Debut filmmaker Katarzyna Iskra took home the Fixafilm Postproduction Award offering image post-production services worth €7,000) for her psychological drama The Crack.
Finally, Witch, an historical drama by Piotr Domalewski, picked up the ORKA Postproduction award and its 30,000 PLN (€7,000) cash prize.
Beyond Polish Days, the festival’s New Horizons Studio+, which showcased eight projects from first or second- time European directors or producers, presented three awards.
The London Film Academy award was won by Vlad Popa’s Sunburnt Winter, produced by Catalina Pistol, who received a script consultancy; the Polish Producers Guld award was presented to the production team of Tomasz Wrobel’s Komputer; while Connecting Cottbus presented Karolina Śmigiel, producer Vegan Vampire, directed by Mariko Bobrik, with its award. The latter comes in the form of accreditation to CocoLab, an industry event at the Connecting Cottbus festival in Germany.
New Horizons Studio+ is joint venture between the New Horizons Association and Creative Europe.
NHIFF took place from July 17-27 in Poland.
