EXCLUSIVE: Vietnam’s Skyline Media is sharing Gossip, the latest horror from producer/director duo Hoang Quan and Huu Tan, and Billiards Hustle from the creators of online sensation 1977 Vlog.
The sales company is introducing the titles to international buyers at Busan’s Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM).
Gossip tackles cyberbully and cancel culture as it follows a ruthless PR specialist haunted by an entity born from her own lies after spreading vicious rumours about an A-list singer and swearing a deadly oath. Produced by ProductionQ, it is set for release by Galaxy Studio in Vietnam in Q1 2027. Quan and Tan are known for Vietnamese Horror Story.
Billiards Hustle marks the feature directing debut of twin brothers Trung Anh and Viet Anh who gained fame with their YouTube channel 1977 Vlog, which has generated more than 500 million views across social networks with its quirky videos.
The action comedy revolves around a lawyer who picks up a pool cue and challenges a gang of superpowered hustlers. Through bizarre training and supernatural skills, he strives to reclaim the billiards association from a crime boss. A release in Vietnam is set for January through CGV.
Also on Skyline’s ACFM slate is recently released comedy horror Miss Phantom by writer-turned-director Le Cong Son. The story centres on an ambitious real estate professional who has a run-in with a resident vengeful actress who refuses to leave the rundown theatre that he is tasked to revive. A further titles is Doan Si Nguyen’s The Scourge, an upcoming horror adapted from a viral Vietnamese horror game about a cursed Saigon apartment block in the 1990s.
