Sydney-based Odin’s Eye Entertainment (OEE) has picked up international rights to Travis Fine’s The Space Between, starring Academy Award-winning actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter).

USA Network has acquired the film to air in a special world premiere on September 11, in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Other North American platforms have been acquired by Inception Media Group.  OEE will introduce the film to buyers in Cannes next week.

The film tells the story of a flight attendant who is grounded in Texas on the morning of September 11, 2001 and forced to care for an unaccompanied minor, 10-year-old Pakistani-American, Omar (newcomer Anthony Keyvan). They drive across the country to New York together, to re-unite Omar with his father who works in the World Trade Centre.

Fine said: “I’m thrilled that Odin’s Eye has acquired The Space Between for foreign sales. As we approach the ten year anniversary and in light of the recent news events from Pakistan, I know that the tragedy and heroism of that fateful day is still so vividly etched in our memories.”

The acquisition was negotiated by OEE vice president, Sales & Production, Wendy K. Howell with Kevin Iwashina and Christine D’Sousza of Preferred Content.
