Julia Ormond is the latest actor planning to get behind the cameras - she has announced that she will direct a movie of Harold Pinter's script The Dreaming Child to be backed by new US independent Bluevision Media.

Based on a story by Karen Blixen, The Dreaming Child is set in 19th century England and tells the story of a seven-year-old boy from the slums adopted by an aristocratic couple.

The movie is one of two introduced at Cannes by BlueVision Media which is created by former Redwood Communications chief Lucas E Devenn and Markus A Baettig.

The other, Stealing Buddha is the story of a woman caught up in the Hong Kong netherworld. Producers are Harold Nebenzal and Steven Wren with European director Dominique Othenin-Girard.

Ormond's credits include Legends Of The Fall, First Knight, Smilla's Sense Of Snow, Captives and The Barber Of Siberia.
