The first Other Israel Film Festival, dedicated to showcasing the life, images, voices and stories of Arabs in Israeli society, has been set for Nov 8-15 in New York City.

The Festival will screen 18-20 narrative features, documentaries and short films. In addition, there will be panel discussions, post-screening question-and-answer sessions and other opportunities to meet with filmmakers and participants. The schedule of films and participants is scheduled to be announced later this summer.

Meanwhile, the festival will participate in a juried competition during the 2007 Jerusalem International Film Festival (July 5-14). Six films - Roads, Seven Days in Deer Bolos, Slim Peace, Sons of Sakhnin United, Crossing Borders and On Hold - will compete in Jerusalem for the Other Israel Award, to be presented to a film that furthers awareness and challenges conventions about the Arab citizens of Israel.
