Peach Arch Films is in final talks with US buyers for the rights to distribute Tom DiCillo's film Delirious in North America after its successful world premiere at San Sebastian. A final deal is expected to be made early next week.

"Several US buyers attended the first screening of the film (Monday 25 September) at the festival and were impressed by what they saw and the positive reaction to the film afterwards," says Penny Wolf of Peace Arch Films, which is handling sales of the film.

Delirious tells the story of a celebrity photographer (Steve Buscemi) who befriends a homeless guy (Michael Pitt) but their relationship turns sour when Pitt falls in love with a famous musician. "I was greatly inspired by the film Midnight Cowboy and the finely detailed desperation of the characters in that film," DeCillo said. "I wanted to make my characters seem both troubling and appealing."

Peace Arch has already agreed distribution rights for the film with Momentum for the UK, Aurum for Spain, Alliance Atlantis for Canada, as well as Scandinavia, Greece, Portugal and the Middle East.
