Shooting is due to start in May in Shanghai on Leo Pescarolo's $18m international movie, She (aka Draconis).

She is produced by Rome-based Pescarolo's Imago Film with Massimo Pacilio for Movieweb, together with Fred Wang from Hong Kong's Salon Media Films, France's Mandarin Films, Germany's CMW Film Company and Australia's Darnley House Productions.

The English-language fantasy tale, which is loosely based on H.Rider Haggard's adventure about an immortal woman who is inspired by immortal love, will shoot for 12 weeks in Shanghai, Hong Kong, the Gobi Desert and Cambridge, England.

The picture, whose cast is currently being defined in Los Angeles, is backed by Rai Cinema and the US's Film Financial Services.

Meanwhile, Pescarolo has just wrapped production on another international feature. Directed by Fabio Segatori (Terra Bruciata), Hollywood Flies (Mosche a Hollywood) is a $6m English-language adventure picture which follows two Italians who suddenly end up in LA. The Italian-Canadian-UK picture is based on a novel by Alessandro Fabbri, and is produced by Pescarolo, Pacilio, Pieter Kroonenburg and Gary Howsam.

Production was recently completed in Canada, Nevada and Los Angeles and the picture is currently in post-production in London.

01 Distribution will release the film in Italy.
