The Producers Guild OfAmerica is to give its inaugural Vanguard Award to Pixar Animation Studios atthe annual PGA Awards on March 3 in Los Angeles.

The award was established tohonour the "brilliant and creative contributions in entertainmentproduction in the fields of new media and technology." It will beaccepted by Ed Catmull (president of Pixar), John Lasseter and Steve Jobs atthe ceremony.

15 year-old Pixar createdthe RenderMan software which enables computer generated images to blend inseamlessly with live-action scenes and has been used in movies such as Gladiator,The Matrix, Titanic and JurassicPark. Pixar, of course, has alsoproduced the blockbusting CGI movies Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug'sLife and Monsters Inc.
