Edi by Piotr Trzaskalski has been selected as Poland's entry for the best foreign-language Oscar, Polish minister of culture Waldemar Dabrowski announced yesterday.
Winner of the first "New Films, New Directors" competition at the Warsaw International Film Festival, the film was also awarded a special jury prize at the annual Polish Feature Film festival in Gdynia.
Edi joins the growing list of other Oscar-hopeful Eastern-European productions including Hungary's Hukkle.
The film, which was produced by Piotr Dzieciol of Opus Film premiered locally on October 18 and is distributed by SPI International Polska.
