Poland's Camerimage Festival has awarded its Krzysztof Kieslowski award to actor Ralph Fiennes.

Czech director Jiri Menzel also received a festival award, the Special Golden Frog, for his"exceptional visual sensibility." The career achievement award was given posthumously to Italian cinematographer Tonino Delli Coli, who recently passed away.

Festival director Marek Zydowicz praised Fiennes' "sensitivity and wisdom in creating film characters that become real, live, authentic and convincing people."

Fiennes is currently filming Bernard and Doris in New York, co-starring Susan Sarandon in the real story about heiress Doris Duke and her Irish butler. He took a break from the shoot to visit Lodz and collect the award.
