Josh Appignanesi has boarded a research-based film project for Bournemouth University’s Centre for Qualitative Research.

The Infidel director Josh Appignanesi is to direct a short film, Rufus Stone, based on three years worth of research from Bournemouth University into ageing and gay life in rural South West England and Wales. The script is based around the research.

Shooting is to take place in rural Dorset in June, with the premiere scheduled for late autumn this year. Funding is currently being sought for screening the film using a mobile cinema in remote areas of South West England and Wales in 2012.

Dr Kip Jones of Bournemouth University, one of the project’s leaders and the executive producer of Rufus Stone said, “We are very fortunate to secure Appignanesi’s involvement in this important output resulting from our three years of research efforts… By engaging Appignanesi, the film and the results of this important, in-depth research will have significant impact on a wide variety of audiences.”
