Serenity EntertainmentInternational has acquired Taiwanese rights to Andrew Lau and Alan Mak's Confession Of Pain from Hong Kong's Media Asia.

The company, which has beenramping up Chinese-language acquisitions since its launch in mid-2005, willrelease the film as part of a pan-Asian roll-out in mid-December.

Since the beginning of 2006,Serenity has released a wide range of Chinese-language titles in Taiwan including TheShoe Fairy and Catch, bothproduced by its strategic partner Three Dots Entertainment, Daniel Wu's The Heavenly Kings and documentaryfeature My Football Summer.

Directed by Yang Li-chou, My Football Summer has grossed $90,000 (NT$3m)from five screens since its release on September 22. The film follows anaboriginal football team as they strive to win the national championships.

Serenity is also handing theTaiwanese release of the Focus: First Cuts titles Crazy Stone, Rain Dogsand My Mother Is A Belly Dancer. Atthis year's Cannes, the company also acquired portmanteau film Paris Je T'aime.

Meanwhile, Serenity/ThreeDot's sales arm is also handling international distribution of My Football Summer and other titlesincluding Leste Chen's gay drama EternalSummer - which was well received here at Pusan where it screened in the New Currents sections -Chen's upcoming Resurrection andRobin Lee's My DNA Says I Love You.
