Company Pictures' Morvern Callar, the latest project from writer-director Lynne Ramsay, was the main beneficiary in the latest round of Scottish Lottery Panel awards.

The first awards under the administration of Scottish Screen rather than the Scottish Arts Council, announced a £500,000 production grant to the film which already has backing from Alliance Atlantis, the English Lottery and BBC Scotland.

Adapted from the novel by Alan Warner, Morvern Callar tells of a young Scots woman's journey to Spain in the wake of her boyfriend's suicide.

The Lottery Panel also announced production finance for a number of shorts and documentaries along with development finance of £24, 217 to Makar Productions' feature Master Of Lies and supplementary finance of £100,000 to Ideal World's Late Night Shopping which is currently filming in Glasgow.
