Disney/Pixar animation Ratatouille held the top international slot this weekend, with more than $21m from 39 territories. The family film was up 9% at the weekend, thanks to a $9m opening in the UK, and now boasts a $271.8m international tally. Resident Evil: Extinction was up by 18%, holding on to the number two position. The franchise's third instalment took $9.3m across 2,481 screens for a $41.1m total to date. Spain's The Orphanage was the highest new entry. The horror film was at number three, grossing $7.1m from 349 screens at home for a whopping $20,927 screen average. Indian films also fared well - thriller Bhool Bhulaiyaa and drama Laaga Chunari Mein Daag both entered the top 20, taking $4.6m and $2.2m respectively. And Italian comedy SMS: Sotto Mentite Spoglie opened well at home, earning more than $2m from 695 screens.
