It is indeed a shame to see investment in the support infrastructure for film yet again bearing the brunt of further cost cutting.

Whether the choice to make those cuts is one made freely or as the only option in light of funding restrictions, it reflects poorly on an organisation which built its political momentum on film making as a beacon of creative excellence.

And while execs come and go, those who are generous with their knowledge, creatively supportive and unfailingly courteous to their clients are rarer than they should be. Richard should be commended for his open minded, creative approach and steadfast determination to help work get made.

Good luck to him, though I think he will need it less than those he leaves behind.
