Your report says: "Michael Winterbottom’s Trishna, Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin, Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights, Steve McQueen’s Shame and Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus are amongst the high-profile British films to screen at the festival, which runs Oct 12-27."

Do these films have no authors other than the director to whom you ascribe a possessive apostrophe? No writer? Or shall we now start to speak of "Simon Rattle's Fifth Symphony"?

PLEASE let laziness not endorse the French custom of "un film de" being ascribed to its director alone. That is not the best way forward for a healthy film industry. Directors themselves fall silent at the flattery but in their hearts, they agree.
