Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne,Catherine McCormack, Jeremy Renner, Imogen Poots, Idris Elba and 12-year-oldnewcomer Mackintosh Muggleton have been cast in 28 Weeks Later, the sequel to DannyBoyle's 28 Days Later, which beganshooting yesterday in London.

Spain's Sogecine and KoanFilms and the UK's Figment are producing for DNA Films and Fox Atomic. Shooting will continue until November.

The thriller is directed bySpanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intact), who co-wrote the script withEnrique Lopez-Lavigne, Jesus Olmoand Rowan Joffe.

The action picks up sixmonths after a virus has annihilated the British Isles. The US military declares victory over the infection andbegins repopulating the country. But as the first wave of refugees returns, thetruth unfolds that the virus is in fact still alive and more dangerous thanever.

Danny Boyle and Alex Garlandare executive producing, with producers Andrew Macdonald, AllonReich and Lopez-Lavigne, who runs KoanFilms with Fresnadillo.

Fox Atomic will distributein the United States,while Twentieth Century Fox has worldwide rights.
