Frenchproduction house Rosem Films has secured international distribution for two ofits upcoming features from Chinese auteurs Lou Ye and Wang Chao.

Wild Bunch has picked up worldwide rights outside China andFrance to Lou's Summer Palace, currently in post-production, while OceanFilms has acquired French rights to the film.

Co-produced by Rosem and Chinese production houses DreamFactory and Laurel Films, Summer Palace follows the intense relationshipbetween two young lovers set against a backdrop of social unrest in 1980s Chinaand Berlin.

Wild Bunch co-financed and sold Lou's previous film, PurpleButterfly, which screened in competition at Cannes in 2003. The director'scredits also include Rotterdam winner Suzhou River. Summer Palace, whichwrapped in May after four months of shooting in China and Germany, is scheduledfor completion by the end of the year.

In addition, Celluloid Dreams has picked up internationalrights to Wang's Luxury Car which is scheduled to start shooting in theChinese city of Wuhan in mid-September.

A co-production between Rosem, Arte France Cinema andChina's Bai Bu Ting Media, the film follows a teacher from the countryside whomoves to the big city to search for his long-lost son. The cast includesup-and-coming Chinese actress Tian Yuan, who won the best newcomer award atthis year's Hong Kong Film Awards for her role in Yan Yan Mak's Butterfly.

Wang's credits include The Orphan Of Anyang, whichscreened in Cannes' Director's Fortnight programme in 2001, and Mongolian-setdrama Day And Night which Rosem also co-produced.
