Aloysha Saari'sKasting haswon the Zone Horror CUT! short film competition.London-based Aloysha wins $9460 (£5000) and gets aspecial screening Aug 26 with nine other CUT! finalists at the Zone Horror FrightFest.

The two-minute film's budget was only £100. It stars Monica Bertei as an actress auditioning for a part that could endher life.

Judges for the competition were Evil Dead producer Rob Tapert, Troma founder Lloyd Kaufman and FrightFest'sAlan Jones.

'Kasting showed a director with extreme and assuredmastery of his craft,' Tapert said. 'Themovie was shot with a real director's eye, hauntingly acted, and a verysuspenseful linear storyline. It was a no brainer forme as to why it was the best short in CUT!'

Second and third place winners were Dead Wood by David Bryant, Sebastian Smith and Richard Stiles and The Fall Down by Jake Kennedy.
