Ernest Borgnine will receive the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment.

Borgnine won the Oscar in 1956 for Marty and has performed in more than 200 films and a number of television series, will receive the honour at the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 30, 2011.

“Whether portraying brutish villains, sympathetic everymen, complex leaders or hapless heroes, Ernest Borgnine has brought a boundless energy which, at 93, is still a hallmark of his remarkably busy life and career,” Screen Actors Guild national president Ken Howard said. “It is with that same joyous spirit that we salute his impressive body of work and his steadfast generosity.”
