Cineclick Asia has announced Motorcycle Diaries' Walter Salles will co-produce Pablo Trapero's Misencounter, making it the first Argentina-Brazil-Korea joint project.

'Pablo Trapero is one of the most talented directors of his generation. His new film project is a uniquely strong, emotional story about characters immersed in a world you rarely see depicted in cinema. Our production company is supporting it due to Pablo's great filmic sensibility and intelligence,' said Salles. Long-time friends with Trapero, he has also been supporting other South American directors for many years.

He will also distribute Misencounter in Brazil.

The film portrays the ill-fortune of a beautiful college girl who accidentally kills her two male lovers and gives birth to a son in prison.

Trapero's previous films include Crane World which won the critics award at Venice in competition, and whose El Bonaerense was in Cannes' Un Certain Regard.

Cineclick is the film's sales agent, co-financier and co-production company.

'It's very exciting for me to work with a company like this Cineclick. They love auteurist movies. They take risks. You can feel that from the previous titles that they have picked up. I'm proud about this first-time commitment between distant countries like these ones, joining together in this adventure,' said Trapero. 'Working again with Walter is not only a pleasure but an honor as well.'

'At a meeting in Rotterdam Film Festival, Pablo and I felt right away we would be a good team for this touching story. I was sure Pablo had something what Cineclick Asia had been looking for after watching his films. Moreover, my company distributed Walter's Motorcycle Diaries in 2004 on more than 80 screens. We are also thrilled to work with Walter again,' says Youngjoo Suh, vice president of Cineclick Asia (Fantom, Co. Ltd.)

Inspired by a real prison for convicted mothers and their prison-born children, the film starts production in September in Argentina, due for completion early next year.
