Martin Scorsese has teamed up with Philips Consumer Electronics to launch a global education campaign designed to provide consumers with a clear understanding of widescreen-formatted television (16:9) and to promote the viewing of movies on widescreen versus standard television size.
The campaign, dubbed "See What You've Been Missing", shows how widescreen televisions provide the best movie-viewing experience without compromising the original content of the film as with the more traditional square format (4:3) television format.
As part of the campaign, Scorsese has issued a top ten list of best movies to watch in widescreen which is composed of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Bladerunner (1982), Ben-Hur (1959), East Of Eden (1955), High And Low (1953), Lawrence Of Arabia (1962), Lola Montes (1955), Once Upon A Time In The West (1968), Some Came Running (1959) and Zulu (1964).
