The Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences has chosen Goran Markovic's The Tour as its submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 81st Academy Awards.
Markovic's film was in competition with 10 other films for the nomination. The shortlisted films were: Berlinale panorama entry Love And Other Crimes (Ljubav I Drugi Zlocini) by Stefan Arsenijevic; Huddersfield (Hadersfild) by Ivan Zivkovic; On The Beautiful Blue Danube (Na Lepom Plavom Dunavu) by Darko Bajic; Who The Fuck Is Milos Brankovic (Milos Brankovic) by Nebojsa Radosavljevic; Belle Epoque by Nikola Stojanovic; Agi And Ema (Agi I Ema) by Milutin Petrovic; The Paper Prince (Princ Od Papira) by Marko Kostic; Obituary For Escobar (Citulja Za Eskobara) by Milorad Milinkovic; Bureau For Lost And Found (Biro Za Izgubljene Stvari) by Svetislav Prelic; and the biggest local grosser of the year, Uros Stojanovic's Tears For Sale (Carlston Za Ognjenku).
The Tour tells the story of a group of Belgrade actors who go on a tour in war-torn areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1993. It premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival where it won the FIPRESCI award and best director award for Markovic.
The film is handled domestically by the leading distributor Tuck, with release scheduled for October. The production company Testament Films is negotiating world sales with several companies.
