Shanghai Film Group is planning to go public with an IPO.

Company president Ren Zhonglun has not revealed the timetable but Shanghai Film Group is expected to become the second state-owned film company to be listed.

China Film Group Corporation has already announced its plans.

SFG expects to raise no less than $140m (RMB1 bn) in the IPO plan. According to Ren, this includes the group's cinema distribution and sales businesses.

SFG is the owner of Shanghai film studio, TV channel Eastern Movie Channel and United Cinema Circuit. United Cinema Circuit is China 's top-three cinema circuit which accounts for 14% of the country's cinema business.
