Britishshort Milk, directed by Peter Mackie Burns, has taken the Golden Bearfor Best Competition Short Film at the Berlinale.

America'sThe Intervention, by Jay Duplass, and German director IzabelaPlucinska's Jam Session tied for the short Silver Bear. Don QuixoteIn Jerusalem (Israel) by Dani Rosenberg received a Special Mention.

PrixUIP for Best European Film (short) in Competition or Panorama was awarded tothe Panorama entry Hoi Maya by Swiss director Claudia Lorenz. GreenBush by aboriginal Australian director Warwick Thornton took the PanoramaShort Film Prize.

OtherPanorama short awards included:

-A special mention for Rhee Young-ran, the star of Sara Jeanne by KimSeong-Sook (Korea) and to Lasse Persson (Sweden) for his animated short Bikini.

-TheNew York Film Academy Scholarship was awarded to Georgian filmmaker GeorgeOvashvili for Eye Level (Zgvis Donidan)

-Thejury awarded a special prize to New Zealand Maori director Taika Waititi for TamaTu. Waititi's early short Two Cars, One Night is nominated for thebest live action short Academy Award.

Theshort film jury this year was made up of Argentinian director-screenwriterGabriela Tagliavini, producer-screenwriter-educator Marten Rabarts from NewZealand and American Oscar-nominated editor Susan Korda.
