Stewart Till's Signpost Films has teamed with Scooby-Doo star Matthew Lillard and Mosaic Media Group to develop a romantic comedy with writer Shana Leslie Stern, the former assistant to director Gary Fleder who makes her first screenwriting sale with the project.

As yet untitled, the script revolves around two people, one a romantic and one a cynic, on Valentine's Day. Charles Roven, the producer of Scooby-Doo and a partner in Mosaic, will produce alongside Mosaic's Douglas Segal and Energy Entertainment's Brooklyn Weaver. Mosaic development executive Gloria Fan brought the project into the company and will oversee it.

The project marks further synergies between various companies within the Mosaic group. Lillard is represented by Mosaic's talent management division The Gold/Miller Group, Roven is the head of its film production arm Atlas Entertainment, while Signpost composes the company's international distribution arm. It follows on from Roven's currently-shootingBulletproof Monk starring Chow Yun-Fat, Seann William Scott and James King which is also being sold in foreign territories by Signpost. Mosaic plans to sell domestic distribution rights on its films on a picture-by-picture basis - MGM has Bulletproof Monk, DreamWorks has The House Of Sand And Fog while other Signpost pictures will go to shareholder Miramax Films.

Lillard, who plays Shaggy in Scooby-Doo, is best-known for starring roles in Scream, Thirteen Ghosts, She's All That, Love Labor's Lost, SLC Punk! and Summer Catch. Other Gold/Miller acting clients include Jim Carrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Garry Shandling, Will Ferrell, Kevin Sorbo, Vince Vaughn, Marlon Wayans, Damon Wayans, Jay Roach and numerous members of the Saturday Night Live cast.
