The Cannes festival hasselected six young film-makers to join the next round of its "Residence"intensive training course.

The interns, who will spendfour months from the end of February to July developing their next features,include Hernan Belon of Argentina, Noam Kaplan of Israel, Jeffrey St Julesfrom Canada and Jukka-Pekka Valkeapaa from Finland. It also selected twostudents - Romania's Corneliu Porumbiou and Brazil's Eduardo Valente - who hadpreviously won prizes in Cannes' Cinefondation section that showcases the workof film schools from around the world. Valente previously appeared in Directors' Fortnight in 2003 with his film Castanho.

The selection process forthe tenth Residence was headed by novelist and Kini & Adamsscreenwriter Santiago Amigorena.
