Dylan Leiner has been promoted to senior vice president of acquisitions and production at Sony Pictures Classics (SPC), reporting to company co-presidents Michael Barker, Tom Bernard and Marcie Bloom.

Leiner was instrumental in the New York-based company's acquisition last weekend of worldwide rights to rave movie Groove at the Sundance Film Festival. He has also been integrally involved in many SPC acquisitions such as last year's hits Run Lola Run and All About My Mother.

A familiar face on the acquisitions circuit, Leiner joined SPC in 1994, supervising the restoration of the nine master works of Satyajit Ray in association with Merchant Ivory Productions. He was named head of acquisitions in 1997.
