Sony Pictures Classics has acquired domestic rights andRenaissance Films has acquired international rights to Junebug, Phil Morrison's comedic drama set in the deep southof the US which played in dramatic competition at Sundance this year.

The film created buzz at the festival for its performance bynewcomer Amy Adams playing a childlike pregnant woman awestruck by the visit ofher new sister-in-law to her North Carolina town.

Embeth Davidtz plays the sister-in-law, a cosmopolitangallery owner from Chicago, with Alessandro Nivola as her brother's brother.

It marks SPC's second acquisition from Sundance after Berlincompetition title Thumbsucker and alsoRenaissance's second international buy after Pretty Persuasion starring Evan Rachel Wood.

The deals were struck by Richard Klubeck and Jeremy Barber of UTA with Michael Barker of Sony Pictures Classics and with Angus Finney of Renaissance Films
