Spider-Man 3 is a go. Sony Pictures vice chairman Jeff Blakeshowed a new trailer to Spider-Man 2 last night and announced that Spider-Man 3 would open in US theatres on May 4, 2007 with TobeyMaguire and Kirsten Dunst in the roles of Peter Parker and Mary-Jane Watson and SamRaimi once again behind the camera.

The presentation at 10.30pmlast night in Las Vegas was introduced by Blake and Amy Pascal, the chairman ofSony Pictures Entertainment, motion picture group, and was attended by Raimi,Maguire, Dunst and producers Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad.

Blake also announced that Spider-Man2 would open two days earlier thanpreviously announced on June 30 this year, a Wednesday, to give the film a fullfive-day opening weekend.

The new trailer, which willplay worldwide from April 9, was then screened followed by footage of a scenein the movie in which Spider-Man battles Dr Octopus (played by Alfred Molina)on and in a moving train through the heart of Manhattan.
