Acclaimed British artist Sam Taylor-Wood is to make her feature directorial debut with Jerusalem, a film based on the life of William Blake starring Ray Winstone as the celebrated artist, poet and religious visionary.

Jerusalem will be the first film from Flicks Productions, a new production company formed by agent and founder of CAM Michael Wiggs and Winstone. The screenplay for the film, which is slated to start shooting next summer, is by Philippa Goslett.

Director of photography is Seamus McGarvey (The Hours, The War Zone) who has worked with Taylor-Wood on all of her short films. Executive producer is Ed Atkinson of Fulcrum Films.

"Jerusalem will be a film about a man with extraordinary visions such that today would be seen as madness," said Taylor-Wood. "It will explore the relationship between his mind and his art and his soul mate (his wife Catherine Boucher)."
