London-based MercuryMedia has struck a UK television deal with the BBC's current affairs strand This World for IOUSA.

Patrick Creadon's Sundance-selected documentary feature has its UK premiere at this week's Sheffield Doc/Fest.

IOUSA is about America's growing national debt and its consequences.

Here at AFM, the film screens today and tomorrow for Cinema Vault.

The film will be released theatrically in the UK from November 14 in Picturehouse Cinemas as part of the joiningthedots.tv programme backed by The Independent newspaper and Sheffield Doc/Fest.

The film is set for This World broadcast on BBC2 on November 24, in a new one-hour format.

Tim Sparke, MD of MercuryMedia, said: 'We are very proud to have licensed this timely film to BBC. Whilst focusing on the US national debt that President Elect will have to cope with, the film has a message that will resonate with both British citizens struggling to cope in these difficult times, and our leaders and opinion-formers who have the responsibility for solving the global financial problems we face.'

IOUSA is backed by the Peter G Peterson Foundation, which increases public awareness about debt and other issues.

MercuryMedia's slate also includes Sea Point Days, Dominick Dunne: After The Party, How Ohio Pulled It Off and Loose Change Final Cut.
