Spengler, who produced the live-action Superman films, returns to the comic book genre with Luchadores 5, the first of a 12-picture slate based on titles from graphic novel publisher Les Humanoïdes Associes/Humanoids.
Former Humanoids chief executive F. Alexander Ciger, who is also Spengler's producing partner in Clubdeal, will produce.
The live-action adaptation of the Luche Libre comic series, a comedy of five Latino wrestlers turned vigilante in East LA, is co-produced by Clubdeal, Chamber 6, and Muttpop with Chamber 6's Michael Olmos to direct.
Adrian A. Cruz is to script from a story based on Belgian comic book author Jerry Frissen and French artists Bill & Gobi.
