The Swedish Film Producers Association (SFP), Swedish TV Producers Association and the Commercial Film Producers of Sweden (SRP) have merged in a bid to boost their lobbying power.

The new group, Film & TV Producenterne, will represent 105 film and TV production companies. It will hold its inaugural meeting in Stockholm on June 10 with Swedish culture minister Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth delivering the keynote speech.

Björn Rosengren, chairman of the new group and former head of SFP, said: “Swedish film and media policy is at a crossroads – the future of moving pictures in Sweden is just about to be determined. That’s why we have decided to set up Film & TV Producenterne, uniting all independent producers of film, television and commercials in Sweden.

“One of our aims is to improve the conditions for Swedish filmmakers. New media habits require a policy which challenges obsolete structures and strengthen the variety of independent production houses. This will provide the quality and accessibility to film and television that audiences deserve.”
