US market research giant, Taylor Nelson Sofres, has announced the acquisition of two American cinema services companies: Theatrical Entertainment Services and sister firm RapidChek Reporting for an initial cash payment of $38m.

The two businesses track cinema attendance and box office figures, as well as monitoring trailer and on-screen advertising. Last year, they generated turnover of $9.9m and earnings before interest and tax of $5.3m.
