Telefilm Canada has appointed Charles Belanger as chairman and Richard

Stursberg executive director.

Belanger was president and CEO of the Broadcasting Group at CFCF,

vice-president of CANCOM and vice-chairman responsible for broadcasting at

the CRTC, the federal broadcasting regulator. He served with the BCE group

as vice-president responsible for conventional and multimedia programming

services, and for the past two years, he has worked as an electronic media

management consultant.

Stursberg was previously president and CEO of the Canadian Cable Television Association and chairman of the board of directors of the Canadian

Television Fund. He also served as assistant deputy minister for

telecommunications and technology and assistant deputy minister for culture

and broadcasting at the Department of Communications.

The appointments were made by Canadian Heritage minister Sheila Copps. Stursberg takes office January 1, 2002; Belanger takes up his position in

February.
