Telefilm Canada's Quebecoffice has agreed to fund four projects, including Capitalisme Sentimental, the first feature of writer-director Olivier Asselinsince 1997's The Seat Of The Soul.
Three projects will beFrench-language and one in English. Funding is through Telefilm's Low BudgetIndependent Feature Film Assistance Program, which provides support up to$176,000 (C$200,000) per project.
The other French-languageproductions are Lost Song, fromwriter-director Rodrigue Jean, and Sophie to be directed by Maxime Giroux from a screenplay by Giroux andAlexandre Laferriere. The English project is The Animist, to be directed by Alexandre Franchi from ascreenplay by Mark A Krupa.
Introduced in 2000, as partof Telefilm-administered Canada Feature Film Fund, the Low Budget IndependentFeature Film Assistance Program is designed to support director-drivenindependent movies.
