THINKFilm has picked upNorth American rights on The Best Restaurant In The World. Ever to be produced by Vancouver-based Irreverent Media.

Monika Mitchell (Break ALeg) will direct the screenplayadapted by Rick Obran from his stage play. Irreverent's Tom O'Brien and HarrySutherland will produce. Casting is pending on several roles in the ensemblepiece, although Canadian actors Gina Chiarelli (See Grace Fly) and John Kapelos (The River King) are locked.

Set in a restaurant run by achef of hyper-sensual powers, the story is described as "a magical romanticcomedy where everyone chases after love on St. Valentine's Day". The project isbacked by Movie Central, BC Film and Telefilm Canada as well as federal andprovincial tax credits. Mitchell's 1999 short film Night Deposit won the Audience Award at Slamdance in 2000.

THINKFilm has picked upCanadian rights to Irreverent's mockumentary Gay Like Me', to be directed by Bruce McDonald (The LoveCrimes of Gillian Guess, HardCore Logo). "We are very excited tohave THINKFilm on board," O'Brien said in a statement. "They have proventhemselves to be discerning in their acquisitions, and very effective in theirdistribution approach."
