THINKFilmhas picked up all worldwide rights to James Ponsoldt's
coming-of-agedrama Off The Black, which premiered at Sundanceand
starsNick Nolte and Trevor Morgan.
Thedistributor plans a November release in the US and will introduce
internationalrights to buyers on the Croisette this week.
OffThe Black charts the fateful friendship between a high school
umpireand the young man who accompanies him to his 40th high school
reunionwhile pretending to be his son. Timothy Hutton and Sally
Kirklandalso star.
"Jamesis a wonderful, classical storyteller, and he has shown equal
strengthwith a veteran like Nick and a newer performer like Trevor,
bothof whom are absolutely marvellous in the film," THINKFilm's head
ofdomestic distribution Mark Urman said.
ForensicFilm's Scott Macaulay and Robin O'Hara produced and Bob
Hariri,Meg Mortimer, Maggie Meade and Steve Kalafer handled executive
producerduties.
THINKFilm'spresident of acquisitions Daniel Katz and vice president
ofbusiness affairs Richard Rapkowksi negotiated the deal with Andrew
Herwitzof the Film Sales Company and Victoria Cook of Frankfult,
Kurnit,Klein and Selz on behalf of the producers.
