Paramount's action sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life received its European debut this weekend, launching in pole position in The Netherlands.

Following success in five Asian countries in the past two week's the launch marks another good sign for the film, which is released in most international territories by UIP. It grossed $465,033 (Euros 410,624) from 104 sites, including previews of $51,659 (Euros 45,615).

Cradle Of Life scored a total of $2.6m over the weekend including a strong launch in Mexico where it took $729,018 from 297 locations. It also launched in Russia over the weekend though no figures were available at time of writing.

In Hong Kong the Angelina Jolie starring film saw a 49% drop off over its second weekend to take $293,051. The film has grossed $7.9m to date internationally.

It opens in a slew of territories next weekend including Germany through Concorde, its first international release not handled by UIP. UIP will roll it out next weekend in Indonesia, Israel, Brazil, Colombia, Sweden, Portugal, Finland, Norway, Panama and Taiwan.
