Television Par Satellite (TPS) movie channels, Cinestar 1 and Cinestar 2, are outperforming rival CanalSatellite's three CineCinema channels, according to Mediametrie's viewership survey Audicabsat.

The TPS channels were France's top-rating film channels with a 5.8% share of the country's 11 million cable and satellite subscribers according to Mediametrie figures for November 27 to December 17. CanalSatellite's channels came second with a 4.4% share.

The poll excluded terrestrial pay-TV channel Canal Plus and its three cable and satellite film channels, Canal Bleu, Jaune and Vert, which require a separate decoder. Canal Plus is a shareholder in CanalSatellite.

TPS' latest addition to its film offer, youth-oriented Cinefaz, already ranks as France's third highest-rating film channel. Fourth is CanalSatellite's new film channel TCM, followed by TPS classics channel, Cinetoile, outranking CanalSatellite classics channel Cine Classics which came in sixth.
