The 2006 Tribeca FilmFestival, which takes place from April 25 to May 7, has announced the lineupfor its four competition sections in international and New York-centric NY, NYsections.

A total of 169 features and99 shorts have been selected for the festival this year from a record 4,100submissions - including 1,950 feature submissions. Broken down bysection, those 169 include 90 world premieres, ten international premieres, 29North American premieres, seven US premieres and 28 New York City premieresfrom 40 countries.

Among the higher-profileworld premieres are The TV Setwith Sigourney Weaver and David Duchovny, The Architect with Anthony LaPaglia and Isabella Rossellini andnew films from Morgan J Freeman and Charles Busch.

"These films give cause foroptimism about the vital state of filmmaking all over the world," saidexecutive director Peter Scarlet in a statement. "They also remind us of theunparalleled capacity of movies to give us a better chance to come to gripswith the increasingly perplexing world we live in."
